Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Resource Sharing (RS) at Old Westbury

Resource Sharing at SUNY Old Westbury 

Resource Sharing is a service that allows you to borrow physical books, articles, book chapters, and other items that are not held by Old Westbury Library. This service is available for faculty, staff, and students possessing a valid Old Westbury ID.  Requesting books is done in our Library Catalog.

Library Catalog Sign In 

While searching for an item , if we do not own it and another SUNY library does, the catalog will prompt you as seen below. After submitting the request, an email will be sent to you once the material is available. If the item is a physical book, you can pick it up at the Library circulation desk. If the item is digital, it will be sent to your

"My Account". 

Requesting Items through Resource Sharing 

When searching in the Library Catalog/Databases, if we do not have an item but another SUNY library does, the catalog will prompt you to get the item through Resource Sharing. 

Physical Book:

• Start by signing in to MY ACCOUNT on the Library Webpage

• At the top, select NEW SEARCH and search for the book you are looking for

• If we do not have a copy in the Old Westbury collection, the catalog will prompt you to Request Item from another SUNY Library

• Select SUBMIT at the bottom of the request form and now you're done

• You will receive an email when the item is available to be picked up from the circulation desk

Digital Item: 

• Start by signing in to MY ACCOUNT on the Library Webpage

• At the top, select NEW SEARCH and search for the journal article, newsletter, etc. that you are looking for

• If we do not have access to it through the Old Westbury databases, the catalog will prompt you to Request Item from another SUNY Library

• Select SUBMIT at the bottom of the request form and now you're done

• You will receive an email when the item is available and you will be able to access it under the Requests tab in your "My Library Card"
