Shuttle Bus Service – Your Voices Have Been Heard!
In December 2015 the Student Life Committee met with members of the administration who are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Shuttle Bus service on campus. We asked for the meeting to discuss complaints made about the Shuttle Bus in the October 2015 Opinion Column of the Catalyst by Brianna Desir, titled “The Ugly Truth about the Shuttle Bus.” It seems the main problems with the shuttle service have been the poor condition of the vehicles used to transport students and faculty to and from the Hicksville Railroad station and the lateness of the buses. Students have also complained that the bus schedule does not seem to align with the class schedule.
The good news is that Transportation Services recently purchased four new vans, and a new bus has been delivered to campus this January. Necessary repairs are also being made on the van that was reported to have duct tape sealing one of the doors.
It has been more difficult for Transportation Services to address the problem of delays in the shuttle service. The road work on Route 107 on top of holiday traffic contributed to lateness in November and December. The administrators at our recent meeting promised to monitor the situation carefully this semester and make adjustments to make the service more convenient and on-time.

We are told that the number of complaints have gone down in the past two years, but some students have told us they do not know where to register a complaint.
