Interlibrary Loan (ILL) at Old Westbury

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service that allows Old Westbury students, staff, and faculty to request articles, books, and other material from other libraries.

Request a Book Chapter on ILLiad

SUBMIT INDIVIDUAL CHAPTER REQUEST. IF YOU ARE SUBMITTING MULTIPLE CHAPTERS REQUEST, YOU MUST CREATE A NEW REQUEST FOR EACH CHAPTER. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE 2 OR MORE CHAPTERS IN ONE REQUEST.

  1. Log in ILLiad
  2. Under New Request select Book Chapter. undefined
  3. Enter as much information as possible. undefined
  4. Check that all required information is provided.
  5. At the bottom of the page Submit the request.
  6. The request could be found in Outstanding Requests.
  7. You will get an email when the Book Chapter has been filled, you can also check your ILLiad account for the status of the request.
  8. When the Book Chapter is delivered you have to log into your ILLiad account to view the Book Chapter.
  9. Book Chapters can be seen by selecting Electronically Received Articles under the View Section. undefined
  10. The Book Chapter will be available on your account for 30 days. Please save download or print the Book Chapter to keep it longer than 30 days.  

Requesting And Renewing a Book on ILLiad

  1. Log on ILLiad
  2. Go to New Request and select Book. undefined
  3. Enter in required information. Please enter as much information as possible.undefined
  4. Check the information provided.
  5. At the bottom of the page Submit the request.
  6. You will be taken to the Outstanding Requests.
  7. An email will be sent when the Book has been filled, you can also check your ILLiad account for the status of the request.
  8. When the book is available to be picked up go to the circulation desk.
  9. You can see the Books you have checked out by looking under View and going to Checked Out Items. undefined
  10. The Checked Out Items will show when the book is due.  Due dates are determined by the lending library. undefined
  11. If you wish to renew the book (determined by the lending library) that can be done by clicking the transaction number for the book. undefined
  12. At the top of the page the Renew Request allows a patron to request a book to be renewed.  undefined
  13. The due date will update on the screen, but that does not mean that book has been renewed. Wait for an email with the due date. An email will be sent if the renew request was approved or denied.
  14. If you are not sure if an email was sent you can check the Notifications found under View. undefined

Requesting a book on Primo

  1. Sign in Primo. undefined
  2. Search for the book.
  3. When the option to Request the item from another institution appears, select Submit and the request will be placed.
  4. An email will be sent when the item is available to be picked up at the circulation desk.
  5. When the request is on the hold shelf ready to be picked up it will also be listed under Requests in the Menu section.  undefined
  6. You can check the status of your request by signing into your Primo Account, and selecting Requests. undefined
  7. When the book is picked up and checked out the book will be listed in your account under Loans.
  8. Due dates can be found next to the Book in the Loan section.
