Create your RefWorks account
RefWorks can manage an unlimited number of citations, tagged for your various projects and linked to full text where available. When it is time to insert citations and create your reference list/bibliography the Write-N-Cite feature does the heavy lifting for you. First, get your account.
- You must click on RefWorks on our website or other of our tools. You cannot go directly or google for it: they won't know that you are Old Westbury people.
- If you are on campus the login screen appears: click on Sign up for an Individual Account
- If you are off campus you will first be asked for your campus network username and password, then the login screen appears: click on Sign up for an Individual Account
Write-N-Cite is a utility that allows users to run an abbreviated version of RefWorks in their word processor. It works with your word-processor to create citations while you are writing your paper. With Write-N-Cite, you can cite references in a manuscript instantly. There are multiple versions of Write-N-Cite available---depending on your preferred operating system.
With RefWorks open on your computer click "Tools" and then "Write-N-Cite" in the drop down box. You will choose the appropriate download for your computer. Once installed, it functions from your word processor.
